APCC Kids are Flying Up!

Flying Up Flyer-01.png

We are so excited to announce that at our next drive-in service on August 23rd we will be having a celebratory car parade for all of our kiddos who are entering Kindergarten through 7th grade. We affectionately call this our "Flying Up!" Ceremony and, as is the case for every event happening during the Coronavirus, this ceremony will look a bit different from past years.

What we need from you:

1. Tell us if you will be participating - A simple Yes/No with the child’s name and grade they are entering in an email to Jessie Abella! We will be handing out balloons to the kids who are participating so your response helps us know how many we need and how many cars will be involved in the parade.

2. If you are participating - Please decorate your car in some way to let the Welcome Team know that you are going to be doing the ceremony. You don't need to go over the top- a streamer of toilet paper will suffice! We just need to be able to easily ID you as a "Parade Car" when you enter the parking lot.

What the Ceremony will look like:

- All participating vehicles will enter via the normal entrance to the drive-in service.

- A Welcome Team member at the Welcome Table (wearing mask and gloves) will be handing out balloons to the cars that are "gussied up" for the parade (i.e. toilet paper streamers, kids name written on the windows, poster, etc)

- Parent decides whether they want the balloon(s) tied to the outside of their car (on roof racks or side mirrors or wherever we can make it work) or if they would like to take the balloon(s) from the welcome team member and place it inside the car

- The parade car is then directed to park in the farthest space available in the very back row

- Please park leaving one space between each car #socialdistancing

- After the worship portion of the service, Jessie Abella will introduce the ceremony and the participating parade cars will slowly drive the "parade route".

**we realize some of your kids are "flying up" into grades higher than 6th so if you want to decorate the car with their info on the outside so Jessie can give them a shout out too please do! We will only be passing out balloons for K-7th but we can definitely embarrass... er.. honor the older kids as well :)

- Kids are encouraged to roll down windows and wave out the windows and smile and cheer - *APCC is not held responsible for any nincompoops who don't listen to their parents and fall out of moving vehicles etc*

- Parade cars will then re-park along the very back row in the parking lot

This whole ceremony may sound and feel a bit strange but one thing we DO know: Our kids get their cues from us. Even the older ones who have all the answers (HA!) So let's do our best to be excited for them and model for them a positive attitude!

Let us know if you're in! We look forward to celebrating your kiddos!
